Overnight Oats
These are some of the easiest oats you will ever make. I always have 4 to 5 little mason jars lined up in my fridge Sunday night, ready for my crazy week ahead. Sometimes, the kids, Rick, or myself even grab these for an afternoon snack. (Yes, my kids love these too.) The best part is the ingredients are flexible…all of them.
What You’ll Need:
5 8oz Mason Jars (these will last up to 5 days in your fridge, so make as many as you will eat in that time)
Canning Funnel (I use this for dry ingredients. Makes less mess)
Plastic Lids for Mason Jars (I buy my jars and lids on Amazon)
Ingredients: (Measurements for 1 jar)
These are my basic regular Oats that I make weekly. Feel free to add whatever flavors, spices, and fruits your family enjoys. I sometimes add fresh berries, chopped apples, or canned pumpkin.
1/2 cup Gluten Free Old Fashioned Oats
1/8 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Honey (Also use maple syrup if your watching your GI count-honey is higher)
2 teaspoons (or more if you want) Raisins
Almond Milk (you can use regular milk if you don’t have dairy sensitivity or any nut milk)
To Make:
Line up your Mason Jars. (Using the funnel) Pour oats into each jar. Top each jar with cinnamon and honey, and raisins. (Remove funnel if using) Fill the jars to the top with milk. (You may need to top off each jar slightly, the milk can sometimes bubble and slowly seep through the oats.) Place your lids on each jar and give them a good shake. Place the jars in the fridge, and Viola! In the morning (or 5 hours) you have “cooked” oats.
I like to top mine with nuts, fresh berries, flax seeds, really anything I can see prepped to throw on top. There are so many options with these. You can create a different flavor every day!
