To Repel Flies:

To repel flies, consider planting lavender, mint, basil, rose, thyme, rosemary, ginger, tarragon, or fennel, as these plants contain compounds like menthol, linalool, borneol, and estragole known to deter flies.

To Repel Mosquitos:

For those annoying mosquitoes, try incorporating catnip, citronella geranium, citronella, floss flower, marigolds, lemongrass, lemon balm, garlic, nasturtium, geraniums, or bee balm into your garden. Remember! If you are going to be spending a good amount of time outside (and if you don't have aggressive allergies), If you want the mosquito-repelling benefit, you typically need to take a few of the leaves, crush them up a little, and then rub them on your arms and legs.
