Green Goddess Detox Soup
Look, I’m not going to pretend like a bowl of soup is going to fix your life—but it can definitely be a damn good place to start. Especially after a long stretch of "mom survival mode" where your idea of a vegetable is whatever's left on your kid's plate.
This Green Goddess Detox Soup is my go-to when I need to hit reset, but don’t have the time (or emotional bandwidth) for a full-blown detox plan. It’s warming, comforting, packed with actual nourishment, and somehow makes you feel like you’ve got your life together—just a little.
And if you caught last week’s DIY degreaser recipe, you know we’re not just spring cleaning our homes. We’re spring cleaning our bodies too. So let’s keep that momentum going with a soup that supports your digestion, immunity, and sanity—all in one bowl.
Green Goddess Detox Soup Recipe
What You’ll Need:
1 tbsp olive oil
1 yellow onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 head of broccoli, chopped
1 zucchini, chopped
2 cups kale (or spinach), de-stemmed
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
Juice of 1 lemon
4 cups vegetable broth
Optional: 1/2 avocado (blended in for extra creaminess)
Optional garnish: hemp seeds, microgreens, chili flakes, swirl of coconut milk
How To Make It:
In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft (about 4–5 min), then add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Add broccoli, zucchini, salt, and pepper. Stir for a few minutes, then pour in broth.
Bring to a simmer and cook until vegetables are tender (about 10–12 min).
Toss in the kale and cook for another 3–5 minutes.
Remove from heat. Add lemon juice and (optional) avocado.
Blend until smooth using an immersion blender or in batches in a high-speed blender.
Taste, adjust seasoning, and garnish however you like.
Why It Works:
This isn’t just green fluff. Each ingredient was picked for a reason:
Broccoli: Rich in fiber and sulforaphane to support natural detox pathways.
Zucchini: Gentle on digestion and high in water to help with hydration.
Kale: A nutrient-dense powerhouse that supports your liver and immune system.
Lemon: Stimulates digestion and makes everything taste brighter.
Avocado (optional): Adds healthy fats for satiety and glow-up skin support.
Spring cleaning your health doesn’t have to be complicated. This soup is proof that with a few green ingredients, you can nourish yourself and feel better—without needing to “start over” or punish yourself for being human.
So, make a pot. Light a candle. Eat in silence (or at least while the kids are distracted). You deserve this.
